11 Systems and Functions

1.) Digestive System- transforms food particles into a size that can be absorbed
2.) Integumentary System- skin; protects our insides
3.) Endocrine System- secretes hormones (chemical messengers)
4.) Immune System- helps the body fight disease
5.) Escritory System- removes waste products from the blood and it assists in maintaining water and electrolyte balance
6.) Skeletal System- the parts of this system provides framework and protective shields for softer tissues, serves as attachment for muscles, and is also involved in the production of blood
7.) Muscular System- provides the forces that produces body movements
8.) Respiratory System- provides for the intake and output of air and for the exchange of gases between blood and air
9.) Cardiovascular/Circulatory System- transports items such as oxygen, carbon dioxide, hormones, glucose, etc. through the body
10.) Reproductive System- enables the production of offspring
11.) Urinary System- regulates iron levels, regulates blood volume, pressure and pH, production of hormones; excretes wastes out of the body via the bladder and urethra
